This policy covers the JobScoutar website and its waitlist. JobScoutar is in private testing. Before accounts open we will update this policy to cover the app itself, and we will email everyone on the waitlist when we do.

Who we are

JobScoutar ("we", "us") runs the website at jobscoutar.com from Ibadan, Nigeria. JobScoutar is being registered as a company in Nigeria. We decide how the personal data described here is used, which makes us its data controller under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Write to hello@jobscoutar.com about anything in this policy.

What we collect

  • Your email address, when you join the waitlist, with the date and time and which of the two forms on the page you used.
  • Nothing else about you. The forms ask for nothing more, and the page has no analytics, no advertising tags, no tracking pixels and no cookies.

Your browser keeps one setting of its own: whether you last chose naira or dollar prices. It stays in your browser's storage, is never sent to us, and you can clear it with your browser's site data.

Why we use it

We use your email for one thing: to tell you when your account is ready. We send that one email. We do not add you to a newsletter, share your email, sell it or use it for advertising. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by joining, and which you can withdraw at any time by writing to us.

How long we keep it

Until your account is ready and we have told you, and for twelve months after that if you do not open one. You can ask us to delete it sooner and we will, within 30 days of your request.

Who else is involved

  • Google Fonts. The page loads its two typefaces from Google, so your browser asks Google's servers for them, and Google sees your IP address when it does. Google's own privacy policy covers that request.
  • Our hosting provider, which stores the waitlist for us and may be outside Nigeria. Where data leaves Nigeria we rely on the safeguards the Act requires.

Nobody else receives your data, and we never sell it.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy,
  • correct it,
  • delete it,
  • stop using it, or withdraw your consent,
  • send it to you in a common format so you can move it.

Write to hello@jobscoutar.com from the address you signed up with, and we will answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Keeping it safe

The waitlist is stored on servers only we can reach. The form cannot be used to find out whether someone else signed up: it gives the same answer for a new email and one already on the list.

Children

JobScoutar is for people looking for work and is not meant for anyone under 18.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change affects how we use your email, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.
