How JobScoutar decides if you can take a job

Every job JobScoutar finds gets one of four answers about where you can work from. The answer comes from rules written as code, not from a guess, so the same posting always gets the same answer.

Open to you

The posting is worldwide, open across Africa or EMEA, names Nigeria, or sets a time zone window that includes yours. These are the jobs it lines up first.

Maybe

The posting is open across Europe or the EU. Some of these need EU residency and some hire contractors from anywhere, so JobScoutar keeps them and marks them maybe rather than hiding a job you might get.

Not stated

The posting just says remote and nothing else. JobScoutar keeps it, and you check the details before applying.

Closed

The posting names countries that leave Nigeria out, including one country in Europe, the UK or South Africa, sets a time zone window too far from yours, or asks for US or EU work authorization anywhere in its text. A clear statement that the job is open to Nigeria or Africa beats all of these.

Why the description wins

Job boards often label a US only role as anywhere. So when the location field and the description disagree, JobScoutar believes the description. It is the line that decides whether your application gets read.
